It also flows rather well with the whole Grantaire-Bahorel as friends/underworld buddies since both creatures apparently dwell within the underworld as it were.
It also gives an excellent reason as to why Bahorel dies first. Not to mention gives him a proper rhyme/reason for after he dies that still focuses on his connection with the others. I really like this!
